My Story
At Health Consulting International, I am dedicated to advancing the cause of global health. With a background in medicine and surgery, I have the skills and expertise to undertake minor surgeries within community global health practice. Working as assistant to an othopedic Surgeon in GENERAL SURGERY [POLYCLINIC ] setting ,I gained invaluable insight and Skills . Through years of working with consultant surgeons at government teaching hospitals, I have gained a wealth of knowledge about the best practices for global health. Doing minor Surgeries at St Francis Poly Clinic armed me with pre and post Surgery management work . Work at Ben Taub at the Texas medical center , USA, after the in House training armed me with infectious control, safety and Quality of care in the Surgical setting . Whether working with clients or speaking to audiences around the world, I am committed to bringing the benefits of good health to everyone, everywhere, says Dr Thompson Akwo Ntuba .

At Health Consulting International, we are committed to improving surgery outcomes in the global health context. As a speaker and consultant, I had the opportunity to participate in the Houston Global Health Collaborative's annual conference where discussions centered around the best practices in surgery. Diplomacy and empowerment were key factors to consider and are integral to our approach. Our focus is on safety, strengthening health systems, and empowering communities as we work towards better health outcomes for all.

Dr. Akwo Thompson Ntuba’s Training and Work in Surgery as a Global Health Component**
Dr. Akwo Thompson Ntuba’s professional journey reflects a rare integration of clinical training, surgical exposure, health‑care facilities expertise, and global health leadership. His presence at major U.S. medical and health‑care engineering conferences—including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the ASHE Annual Conference, and AIChE/GCPS Process Safety Mentoring sessions—demonstrates a multidisciplinary approach to health systems strengthening. Through these engagements, he brings together the worlds of surgery, hospital infrastructure, patient safety, and international public health.
Surgical Training and Exposure Through Professional Medical Platforms
The images from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons “Road to Houston” meeting highlight Dr. Ntuba’s engagement with surgical education and professional development. ASPS events are among the most respected platforms for surgical innovation, clinical updates, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His participation in these environments reflects:
-
Exposure to modern surgical techniques
-
Understanding of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery trends
-
Engagement with surgical safety standards
-
Networking with global surgical leaders
This training strengthens his ability to integrate surgical knowledge into broader global health frameworks, especially in regions where surgical access remains limited.
Surgery as a Global Health Priority
Global health has increasingly recognized surgery as an essential component of public health. Dr. Ntuba’s work aligns with this shift, emphasizing that:
-
Surgical care is a critical part of universal health coverage
-
Safe surgery depends on strong hospital infrastructure
-
Surgical outcomes improve when facilities, systems, and training are aligned
-
Global health must address trauma, congenital anomalies, burns, and non‑communicable diseases—all requiring surgical capacity
His exposure to U.S. surgical conferences equips him to advocate for improved surgical systems in low‑resource settings.
Health‑Care Facilities and Surgical Safety
The ASHE 2023 Annual Conference and the Texas Association of Health‑Care Facilities Management (TAHFM) booth in your images highlight Dr. Ntuba’s engagement with the physical and operational backbone of hospitals. Surgical care cannot exist without:
-
Reliable power systems
-
Sterile environments
-
Safe operating rooms
-
Effective ventilation and infection control
-
Facility compliance and engineering standards
By participating in ASHE events, he strengthens his understanding of how hospital infrastructure directly affects surgical outcomes. This knowledge is invaluable in global health, where many facilities struggle with outdated or unsafe environments.
Process Safety and Risk Management in Surgical Settings
The images from the AIChE/GCPS Process Safety Management Mentoring sessions show Dr. Ntuba’s involvement in high‑level safety training. Although rooted in engineering, process safety principles apply directly to surgical and hospital environments:
-
Hazard identification
-
Risk mitigation
-
Systems‑based safety culture
-
Prevention of catastrophic failures
-
Protection of staff and patients
This training enhances his ability to support hospitals—both in the U.S. and globally—in building safer surgical systems.
A Global Health Leader Bridging Clinical and Systems Knowledge
Dr. Ntuba’s global health work is strengthened by his multidisciplinary training. He brings together:
-
Clinical understanding from surgical conferences
-
Facility and engineering knowledge from ASHE
-
Safety and risk management from GCPS
-
Public health communication and advocacy from his international engagements
This combination allows him to approach surgery not only as a clinical act but as a system, requiring strong infrastructure, trained personnel, safe environments, and community trust.
A Vision for Global Surgical Equity
Through his training and work, Dr. Ntuba champions a vision where:
-
Every patient, regardless of geography, has access to safe surgery
-
Hospitals in low‑resource settings meet global safety standards
-
Surgical teams are supported by strong facility management
-
Global health recognizes surgery as a pillar of development
His career stands as a testament to the belief that improving surgical care improves societies.
